The Egyptian Power Stamps are a fun set of twelve stamps with really nice detail. The set comes with a Bast stamp holder and Turquoise ink pad. The stamps are easy to work with, even on different surfaces like candles. The guidebook is full of historical information on each of the Deities in the set and lists several ideas for using the stamps and relates each Deity to an area of modern life. I don’t agree with several of Dr. Bonewitz’ correspondences of the Deities, however several of the books I have read by other Egyptian experts do not agree with each other so there you go.
My main gripe with the set is that Isis and Osiris are not included! I can understand not including the often-misunderstood redheaded stepchild Set but to leave out Isis and Osiris is just beyond my comprehension. The stamps themselves are a little loose in the holder after you slide them in but it does not cause too much of a problem when stamping. The ink is thick enough to do well on slick surfaces like photographs but does not take too long to dry, even while still wet the ink did not smear, it just feels tacky. Several of my friends have commented on the set even without Isis and Osiris so it would probably make for great Yule giving. Perhaps Dr. Bonewitz will create a secondary and even tertiary set to include more of the Egyptian pantheon. Earthmystry |
