I really love this book! Marina Stern, The author of To Live with Fairy Folk brings us a wonderful idea in this new book - bringing magic into every celebration throughout the year.
Every western festival or celebration you can think of is included here, From St. Patricks's Day to Lammas, from Weddings to Baby Showers.
Each chapter tells you a lot about the history of each event, includes activities that people traditionally engage in, and at least one recipe for the day in question. For example, Traditional Holiday Fare for the Summer Solstice includes this exciting recipe for a summer fruit dip:
Jocoque Dulce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup sour cream
2 Tbsp dark rum
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
We tried this, and it was most excellent, definitely warming the cockles as it blended with the strawberries we used for dipping.
