Correspondences for 'Knowledge' spells
Creating a good spell is like baking a good cake. All the ingredients need to be just right. The first ingredient to consider is the deity (or deities) that you will call on for your spell.

Knowledge spells are associated with the following deities:

  • The Egyptian Deity Thoth (God of Knowledge)
  • The Norse Deity Odin (The All Father) - A suitable offering would be Mead, good food.
  • The Egyptian Deity Sekhmet (The Mighty One)
  • The Celtic Deity Boann (Goddess of the River Boyne) - A suitable offering would be Hazelnuts.
  • The Celtic Deity Bran the Blessed (God of Prophecy)
  • The Celtic Deity Brighid (Goddess of Fire, Healing and Smithcraft) - A suitable offering would be Fire, Coins, Blackberries.
  • The Celtic Deity Cerridwen (Moon Goddess) - A suitable offering would be Vervain, Acorns.
  • The Celtic Deity Dagda (The Good God)
  • The Celtic Deity Druantia (Queen of the Druids) - A suitable offering would be Plant a Fir tree..
  • The Celtic Deity Taliesen (Prince of Song)

Each of these Gods has their own needs in terms of offerings, colors and the best time to work with them. The spell itself (in this case Knowledge), also has its own special energies which should be attended to. Unless otherwise stated, spells grow in power between the new and full moon (waxing) and reduce in power during waning moons.

For Knowledge spells, the best day to perform the spell is Wednesday, since Wednesday is associated with Knowledge. (In fact it is associated with all of these: conjurations, predictions, knowledge, writing, eloquence).

Wednesday also happens to be the favored day of the God Odin , the more the spell and deity have in common, the better!
You should also be sure to use the right herbs, candles, perfumes and incense for your ritual. For your Knowledge ritual, the following would be appropriate, in addition to any offerings you wish to make to the chosen deity:

    Correspondences for Knowledge
    Incense: Cinnamon, Cinquefoil, Mastic, Storax
    Planets:Mercury
    Perfumes:sweetpea, lavender, mastic, frankincense, cloves
    Candles: Purple, .
Herbs: Rue Herb, Sage Leaf or Spearmint Leaf .

Remember to check the needs of the Gods and Goddesses you intend to work with also, and include appropriate offerings for them.
Every Tradition has its own method of ritual construction, so you will have to decide how best to incorporate all the above elements into your calls, casting, purification and offerings. All these elements help to raise the cone of power, and focus the attention of the deities, the elemental forces and you, on the matter at hand. Finally we come to the spell itself. Here is a Knowledge spell you can use for this ritual:

    Spell for Knowledge

    You will need:

  • A deck of Tarot cards
  • Peace and quiet
  • Time to yourself.

This is a meditation ritual so make sure you are physically comfortable.
Shuffle the Tarot cards, all the while thinking about the issue that concerns you. When you are done shuffling, place them on the table, floor or altar, and cut them into three piles with your left hand. Each pile represents different knowledge:

  • The first pile is knowledge about the past.
  • The second pile is knowledge about the present, and events currently unfolding.
  • The third is knowledge about the future.
Using your left hand, select the top card from the appropriate pile. Focus on the card for about a minute. Examine it thoroughly, look at the images it contains. Do not analyze them at this time, just absorb them. Try and avoid letting any preconceptions about the meaning of the card interfere with this process. Simply absorb the image into your unconscious.
When you are done, close your eyes; relax, breathe deeply. Perform whatever techniques you use to reach an alpha state, a state of calm and receptivity. Call to the images on the card. Ask for their explanation of their meaning. Take as long as you need. When you and the card have exchanged all you can, bring yourself out, and write down what you learned.

When you have completed the spell, thank the gods and carry out your normal closing ceremonies.

We hope the above spell and information is useful to you. Please Let us know how you got on!
