Correspondences for 'Protection' spells
Creating a good spell is like baking a good cake. All the ingredients need to be just right. The first ingredient to consider is the deity (or deities) that you will call on for your spell.

Protection spells are associated with the following deities:

  • The Olympian Deity Demeter/Ceres (The Gift-Giver, Goddess of Agriculture) - A suitable offering would be Honeycombs, unspun wool, unpressed grapes, grain..
  • The Olympian Deity Tyche (Lady Luck)
  • The Egyptian Deity Bast (Goddess of Cats, Lady of Light) - A suitable offering would be Flowers, Wine.
  • The Egyptian Deity Nephthys (Protector of the Dead)
  • The Norse Deity Forseti (God of Justice)
  • The Norse Deity Sif (Goddess of Excellence)
  • The Norse Deity Uller (God of Hunting)
  • The Celtic Deity Banba (Goddess of Magic)
  • The Celtic Deity Dagda (The Good God)
  • The Celtic Deity Druantia (Queen of the Druids) - A suitable offering would be Plant a Fir tree..
  • The Celtic Deity Macha (Triple Goddess (Mother)) - A suitable offering would be Acorns.
  • The Celtic Deity Merlin (The Great Sorceror) - A suitable offering would be Mandrake, incense.
  • The Angelic Deity Michael ("Who is as God") - A suitable offering would be Spices, Peppers.
  • The Olympian Deity Gaia/Tellus (Mother Earth) - A suitable offering would be Fruits and Grain.

Each of these Gods has their own needs in terms of offerings, colors and the best time to work with them. The spell itself (in this case Protection), also has its own special energies which should be attended to. Unless otherwise stated, spells grow in power between the new and full moon (waxing) and reduce in power during waning moons.

For Protection spells, the best day to perform the spell is Saturday, since Saturday is associated with Protection. (In fact it is associated with all of these: duties, responsibilities, protection, finding families, works of magic, buildings, meditation, life, doctrines).

Saturday also happens to be the favored day of the Goddess Demeter/Ceres , the God Dagda , the Goddess Gaia/Tellus , the more the spell and deity have in common, the better!
You should also be sure to use the right herbs, candles, perfumes and incense for your ritual. For your Protection ritual, the following would be appropriate, in addition to any offerings you wish to make to the chosen deity:

    Correspondences for Protection
Incense: Carnation, Coconut, Dragons Blood, Frankincense, Lotus, Myrrh, Sandalwood,
    Planets:Saturn
    Perfumes:Hyacinth, pansy
Candles: Blue, Light Blue, White, .
Herbs: Garlic, Mugwort, Liquorice, Ivy, Flax, Spearmint, Sweet Cicely, Basil, Rosemary, Sage, Houseleek, Valerian, Cedarwood chips, Devil's Claw, Junniper Berries, Kava Kava Root Powder, Mistletoe Leaf, Sandalwood Red Powder, Sea Salt, Yellowdock, Yerba Santa, .

Remember to check the needs of the Gods and Goddesses you intend to work with also, and include appropriate offerings for them.
Every Tradition has its own method of ritual construction, so you will have to decide how best to incorporate all the above elements into your calls, casting, purification and offerings. All these elements help to raise the cone of power, and focus the attention of the deities, the elemental forces and you, on the matter at hand. Finally we come to the spell itself. Here is a Protection spell you can use for this ritual:

    Spell for Protection

    You will need:

  • A Small vial
  • Pen and paper
  • A small token of the thing you wish protection from.
  • Water
  • Black, White or Red Sealing Wax
  • A Freezer

Write the name of the thing or person you wish to be protected from on the paper. Go over it nine times. As you do this, repeat the words:
    No harm.
No harm shall you do to me or mine.
No harm shall you do to thee or thine.
    No harm.
Fold the paper as small as possible, and place it in the vial. Place the token in the vial also. Pour water in the vial so that it covers everything, but leaves enough room for the water to expand when it is frozen.
Place the top on the vial, and seal it with sealing wax. Place the vial in the freezer (out of sight of prying eyes) and keep it there.

When you have completed the spell, thank the gods and carry out your normal closing ceremonies.

We hope the above spell and information is useful to you. Please Let us know how you got on!
