  • Faery
This tradition has several different name spellings: Fairy, Faery, Faerie, or Feri are all valid.

The tradition was founded by Victor Anderson, and developed by Victor and his wife Cora, and several important Feri teachers, largely in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the 1960's, Victor initiated Gwydion Pendderwen, who did a lot of work in the community during the 1970's spreading the Faery message. Gwydion added much of the Celtic, particularly Welsh, material, which was absent from Victor's earlier practice. Gwydion died in 1981, Victor in 2001.

The Faery origins date back to the 1920s and 1930s, and so have less 'mainstream' Wicca influences since the tradition did not evolve from the Gardnerian line, which didn't come into being until the forties.

The Faery tradition maintains its lineage back to Victor and Cora. There is a tenet system (although it is not called this) which is somewhat different to the British Traditional tenets. Most of these involve increasing and developing the Faery energy current.

There are numerous deities in the Feri Pantheon, but seven key ones, with the Star Goddess as the Primary - all the other deities are seen as aspects of her. Emanating from the Star Goddess are three pairs of deities All the deities have relationships with each other, although it may not appear that way to those not familiar with this tradition.

There is a unique set of guardians and invocations. The guardians may be associated with the quarters or with the elements. Each is not necessarily associated at all times with both a quarter and an element.

Similar to the Book of Shadows in concept, the initiate in the Faery tradition is passed a body of poetic and reference material. The contents varies from one branch of the tradition to another.
